Charging method of lithium polymer battery

Lithium polymer battery is a chemical battery with high energy, miniaturization and lightweight. The editor below will introduce to you the correct

charging method of lithium polymer battery.

At present, lithium charging mainly uses the voltage-limiting and current-limiting method. In the initial stage, constant current (CC) charging has

the strongest capacity of the battery. As the charging process continues, the polarization is strengthened, the temperature rise is intensified, and

the voltage rises. When the charge reaches about 70 When ~80%, the voltage reaches the maximum charging limit voltage and enters the

constant voltage (CV) charging stage. In the constant voltage stage, known as trickle charging, it takes about 30% of the time to charge 10% of

the electricity, the current intensity decreases, and the temperature rise no longer increases.

This process considers the total voltage or average voltage control of the battery pack. In fact, there are always cells with higher voltages than

other batteries in the pack that have entered the overcharge stage. In the same way, during discharge, there are over-discharged batteries in

the pack. Overcharge and over-discharge will cause fatal damage to the battery. The only difference is that overcharge produces a large amount

of gas, is prone to spontaneous combustion and explosion, and the phenomenon is violent; over-discharge The appearance changes slowly, but

the failure rate is extremely fast, which should be strictly avoided in normal use.

In this regard, there is a new lithium battery charging method called parallel control and equalization management, which can independently

conduct charge and discharge management and equalization control for each battery cell. This dynamic equalization combines two

equalizations: discharge equalization and charging equalization. The advantage is that despite differences in initial capacity, voltage,

internal resistance, etc. between single cells, the consistency of relative charge and discharge intensity and depth can be ensured during

operation, and a common end of life can be gradually reached. This method is particularly suitable for high-current discharge. Our company

has now developed PCB equalization protection for up to 20 series-connected lithium batteries, with a maximum discharge current of up to 100A.

Therefore, when charging lithium batteries, you must use a dedicated lithium battery charger. In particular, you must pay attention to matching

and consistent parameters with the battery core used. When lithium batteries are used in combination, you must add a PCB to the battery pack.

Only with a protective board can it be possible to avoid battery packs, leakage, or even fires and explosions, and extend the service life of the

battery as long as possible without overcharging or discharging it, thereby increasing the number of battery cycles.
